5 Simple Switch-Ups for Easter Fun
Traditional Easter party highlights are a great way to celebrate the special occasion, but a new twist now and then can help make each year memorable. Save money, time and the kids’ clothes with these fun Easter switch-ups!Â
1 Egg DecoratingÂ
Switch-up: Keep egg decorating clean and fun for everyone by preventing stains in the first place. Plastic table covers can protect the table and the floor beneath it. You can also use table covers cut-up poncho style to protect clothing. Remember to put the table covers in the plastic recycling bin when you’re finished.
2 Egg Hunt
Switch-up: Include a second egg hunt! Let the kids hide the eggs while the grown-ups do the searching. It’s best to use plastic eggs for this one, in case eggs are hidden too well.
3 Table Decorations
Switch-up: Instead of flowers, create a carrot bouquet centerpiece. Choose carrots with lots of green tops, give them a quick once-over with a peeler until they’re a smooth, bright orange, and place in a glass cylinder vase with water. Tie the greens together with purple and white ribbon. Best of all, you can eat the carrots the next day.
4 Easter Menu
Switch-up: For a change from ham and all the fixings, serve your kids a variety of egg quiches with vegetable bunny faces on them. Use long, thin oval slices of zucchini for ears, cherry tomatoes for noses, halved olives for eyes and parsley sprigs for whiskers. Serve with fresh fruit salad and roasted potatoes.
5 Bunny Cake
Switch-up: Make easy, festive cupcakes rather than an elaborate bunny cake this Easter. Bake cupcakes with a yellow or strawberry cake mix, spread with white frosting, sprinkle with green decorating sugar and top with a colorful marshmallow bunny.
